Remembrance Day is the most important day of the year for the legion. It is a time to remember & honour the men & women who went to war to protect our freedom and those who made the suppreme sacrifice.
The Poppy Campaign is very important to the legion and the money that is raised can only be used to help veterans and their families. The campaign starts in early November and finishes on Remembrance Day. Collection boxes are placed in many local businesses and a boot drive is held in uptown Forest on the Saturday before Remembrance Day.
The Remembrance Day Ceremony begins at 10:45 am on November 11th at the legion with a parade to the cenotaph where there is a service.
The service includes the Canadian National Anthem, God Save The Queen, laying of the wreathes, Playing of Last Post and the lowering/raising of the flag.
The ceremonies are then moved indoors to the legion hall where the public is welcome to attend the remainder of the service.
Upon the completion of the service, you are invited to stay around for comradeship with the veterans and a light lunch supplied by the Ladies Auxiliary.
